Social Politics - 101: The answer is actually quite simple, Republicans (re: Conservatives) are history re-writers. When they do bad things, they deny it, then continue with a re-telling (re-write) of history. Since they're never held accountable for their many misdeeds (2000-08, etc.) they see no need to stop doing it. Just listen to their campaign reasoning for electing them this November, etc.
